Annual compost giveaway at local recycling centres

Get your garden back to its glorious self this spring with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council's annual compost giveaway on Saturday 7th May.

Council will be giving away hundreds of bags of free compost at recycling centres across the Borough on the Saturday morning to promote Compost Awareness Week (1st to 7th May). Residents can come and collect their compost, (one bag per household) on a first come, first served basis at New Line Recycling Centre, Tandragee Road, Lurgan, Sat: 9am-3.45pm and Fairgreen Recycling Centre, Duke Street, Portadown, Sat: 9am-3.45pm

Supplied by Natural World Products in Armagh and Portadown, the compost is made up from the garden waste which is collected through the brown bin scheme and garden waste recycled at Council’s recycling centres.

Staff will also be on hand to show residents what happens to food and garden waste after it is collected from their homes and the recycling centres.

Compost is full of nutrients making it excellent for feeding plants and the humus in it helps to retain moisture in the soil – so as well as maintaining a beautiful garden you will also be helping the environment.

The annual compost giveaway is always hugely popular, so make your way as early as you can before stocks run out!
