A man involved in a fight in Lurgan town centre was fined £200 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for disorderly behaviour.
He was Gregory Anthony White (22), Donnelly Gardens, Lurgan. The court heard that on September 27 last year at around 1.30am an altercation took place outside a bar in Lurgan town centre.
When police arrived White was there with no shirt on and other persons, who were intoxicated, were not prepared to make a statement. A member of the public, however, had videoed what had happened on a mobile phone and this showed White throwing a punch and being disorderly. When interviewed by police he said he had been defending himself.
Mr Conor Downey, defending, said White, another male and three females were present and they were known to each other. He explained there had been an argument and the other male had tried to hit White but hit one of the females. White was put to the ground and received a punch to the face. Mr Downey added that his client was genuinely embarrassed and remorseful about his behaviour.
