Hundreds of people packed into Craigavon Civic Centre last night (Thursday) to a rally in support of the Dickson Plan.

The meeting was called by Upper Bann DUP MP David Simpson, who has stressed his opposition to the Option A proposal which would see bilateral schools replacing both Portadown and Lurgan College.

The speakers included the principals of both schools, Simon Harper and Trevor Robinson.

The Southern Education and Library Board (SELB) stressed this week that it is still willing to consider alternative proposals, but it has ruled out Option B, which would see Portadown and Lurgan colleges remaining in their current form with Craigavon Senior High moving to a new specially built school in central Craigavon.
