ONE of the big personalities in local sport, Liam Beckett, is set for a showdown with Manchester United legend Roy Keane!

The football commentator and columnist will interview Keane then host a question and answer session at a special dinner for a Lurgan charity in Armagh next month.

Liam said: “The question and answer session between Roy and the audience could be interesting!

“Everyone knows what a controversial character Roy is and there are so many topics to chat to him about, from the World Cup to Mick McCarthy to his fall-out with Sir Alex - you could spend a week chatting to him.

“It’s one hell of a gig to get and I am absolutely delighted to have been asked.”

An Evening with Roy Keane is being staged at the Armagh City Hotel on Thursday, February 4th.

The organiser is local man Pat McGibbon, who was a teammate of Keane’s at Man United in the 90s.

Pat said: “As people who follow local football and motorcycling will know there’s never a dull moment with Liam Beckett - and likewise Roy.

“We’re delighted to have them on board, two great characters and it should be quite a combination!”

Tickets for the event are £65 per person - which includes a drinks reception, three-course meal and live entertainment - and are available from Skelton Travel, telephone 38-324741.

There will also be a limited number of corporate tables.

All proceeds go to the Train to be Smart TTBS Juniors charity, founded by Pat McGibbon.

It provides football coaching for young people and education on the importance of sport for improving physical, mental and emotional health.
