The morning after he had been to a party an 18-year-old man crashed his car on the way home, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

James McBarron, Silverwood Leaves, Lurgan, was fined £150 and banned for 12 months for driving with excess alcohol on June 1 this year.

The court heard that police found a car crashed and abandoned at roundabout three in Craigavon. They found the defendant seemingly unconscious at the shop fronts in Drumgor.

When McBarron was discharged from hospital an evidential breath test gave a reading of 48.

The police had been called to the scene of the accident at 9.15am and the evidential procedure had taken place at 1.38pm.

A solicitor for the defendant said he had been staying at a friend’s house the night before for a party. McBarron was driving home when he took the roundabout too fast. He had no mobile phone and went to get help. He had friends in the car and one of them assaulted him leaving him unconscious.
