Four burglaries in a day prompt police appeal for precautions

Four burglaries in Craigavon in one day have prompted a police appeal.

During daylight hours on Thursday, May 22, four homes were entered in Pinebank, Clonmeen and Lakeview Court. Jewellery was taken in three of these burglaries.

Police are appealing to anyone who noticed any activity around these areas on May 22 to contact them on the 101 non-emergency number. If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police are also encouraging the public to take steps to protect their property and valuables.

In a number of recent burglaries, jewellery has been stolen and there are a number of steps that homeowners can take to reduce the chance of falling prey to this crime:

• Don’t put all your jewellery in one place.

• Consider investing in a home safe or safety deposit box.

• Ensure your jewellery is insured and photographed.

• Make sure your home is locked and properly secured.
