A 38 year old man who took pre-packed salad boxes from his work place to have for his lunch was given 120 hours community service last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Adam Bielak, Lakeview Park, Craigavon, admitted stealing the salad boxes on October 23 last year.

The court heard that police spoke to the factory manager at Avondale Foods who alleged that an employee had taken pre-packed salad boxes. The incident was recorded on CCTV.

Police also spoke to a line manager who identified the defendant.

When interviewed Bielak admitted taking the salads. He believed management had given permission for workers to take these pre-packed salads.

Defence said that it was the case that other employees were doing this as well and he had eaten the salad for his lunch in the factory.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said he accepted the defendant seem to be under the impression that he could help himself although it was clear no such permission had been granted by his employers.
