Penalty points for allowing son to drive

A Moira woman who let her son drive her car when he was not insured was given eight penalty points last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Majorie Anne Godson (65), Waringmore, Moira, was also fined £250 for permitting no insurance on September 1 last year.

She was also fined £75 for permitting him to drive without having a vehicle test certificate.

When stopped he said the vehicle belonged to his mother who had phoned him up to collect her from work.

The defending solicitor said that she would say she did not phone her son but that he turned up himself.

He added she remonstrated for him to get out of the driver’s seat but he refused and she relented.
