A man who stripped naked and jumped into the lake at Craigavon Watersports Centre appeared in court last Wednesday on an indecency charge.
Twenty-year-old Declan McKeown, Pinebank, Craigavon, admitted indecent behaviour on June 6.
The court heard a youth engagement partnership meeting was taking place at the watersports centre, attended by 30 young people.
Two men were jumping off the nearby jetty into the lake. One was fully clothed but McKeown was standing naked on the slipway and his genitals were clearly visible to the public.
Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said McKeown couldn’t remember what happened but it was a source of great embarrassment to him.
District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates said parading about with no clothes on was not what was expected in a civilised society.
McKeown also admitted to disorderly behaviour at William Street on March 31. The court heard that on that date the defendant and another person were fighting in the street.
Police broke them up and McKeown had to be restrained while the other man ran away.
McKeown had been approached by another man and punched by him.
He was unconscious on the ground for seven minutes.
Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said McKeown had been assaulted and came off second best.
After considering a pre-sentence report the District Judge put McKeown on probation for 12 months for both offences.
