“I am delighted that four of our parks, Lurgan Park, Edenvilla Park, Tannaghmore Animal Farm and Gardens and Bann Boulevard continue to boast the Green Flag status. I am particularly proud and pleased for the staff; it is fantastic to see their hard work and dedication recognised. Along with the local community they work hard to maintain the parks to a high standard so they are places for everyone to enjoy,” said Councillor Noel McGeown, Chair of Leisure Service Committee.

Bann Boulevard retains the Green Flag award for a second successive year. The picturesque boulevard running from Shillington’s Quay to Moneypenny’s Lock takes in both the river and scenic tow path that is regularly used by walkers, rowers, runners and cyclists.

It is also the second consecutive year for family favourite Tannaghmore Animal Farm and Gardens. The stunning gardens are a wonderful place to spend some time, enjoying the beautiful flowers, eye catching sculptures, the brilliant play park and of course not forgetting the Master McGrath Maze – always a favourite with the kids!

Lurgan Park retains the award for a fifth year – proving that it is one of the premiere parks in both Northern Ireland and Ireland. Lurgan Park is the largest urban park in Northern Ireland and attracts in the region of 2000 visitors each weekend who come to enjoy the facilities or spectate at the various sporting events which take place at the 259 acre parkland.

Portadown’s best kept secret, Edenvilla Park is also considered one of the nation’s best parks having once again been awarded the Green Flag. The park showcases a beautiful herb garden, birds of paradise and the Alice in Wonderland sculpture trail featuring favourite characters.
