Approval given for play area

COUNCIL approval has been given to develop an outdoor play area at the rear of North Lurgan Community Centre.

The request came from the staff and management committee of the North Lurgan Pre-School Playgroup.

At present the rear of the community centre consisted of a fenced, grassed area only which was currently maintained by the council.

The group would be seeking funding from the Department of Education, approximately 5,000 a year, to purchase the necessary equipment.

However, they were asking the council to install and maintain any equipment purchased.

It would cost council approximately 500 for additional grounds maintenance per year.

The initial phase of the project would consist of a barked area with two play houses and some tree planting.

A proposal by Councillor Johnny McGibbon for approval was agreed by the council.
