A MURDER investigation is continuing after the body of Andrew Lorimer was discovered in his Portlec Place home on Sunday.

Four men have been arrested and are helping police with enquiries.

A 21-year-old was arrested on Sunday and on Tuesday police were granted an extra 36 hours to question him.

Two more men - aged 18 and 21 - were arrested on Tuesday night and a 20-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday morning. They are being questioned by police in Antrim.

The PSNI were not able to release any details about the circumstances of Andrew’s murder, but have asked to speak to anyone who was in the Portlec Place area over the weekend.

The area was a hive of activity on Sunday with forensic officers on the scene shortly after the 43-year-old’s body was found in his downstairs flat.

Officers paid particular attention to the phone box on Russell Drive and the area close to Andrew’s home. The painstaking sweep of the block of flats in Portlec Place where Andrew had lived continued on Monday and Tuesday and it’s understood several alleyways and sidestreets in Mourneview were also searched.

It’s unclear at this stage when, where or how Andrew died but early rumours suggest he was subject to a vicious beating.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who was in the Portlec Place area between Friday and Sunday to contact them on 0845 600 8000 or alternatively they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
