Golf academy nearing completion

LURGAN Golf Club have submitted plans for a floodlit practice area at the club.

The amended drawings detail how land adjacent to the Antrim Road will be transformed into a sheltered driving range which can be used both day and night.

At the beginning of 2011 the club purchased the larch plantation portion of Johnston’s estate and set about clearing the land for its new golf academy.

Planning permission was granted in April 2012 and work has continued to seed and drain the practice area as well as create bunkers.

The current planning application should see the finishing touches added to the new facility.

Plans include two 10 metre floodlight masts, 14 ground-mounted floodlights and 10 covered pitching bays.
