Green flag award

CRAIGAVON Borough Council’s much loved Lurgan Park and the picturesque Bann Boulevard are the two local nominees in the running for this year’s Green Flag People’s Choice Award.

This year saw both parks retain their prestigious Green Flag Award, Bann Boulevard in Portadown for the second successive year and Lurgan Park for the fourth consecutive year.

All Green Flag Award winners are entered into the annual poll and people are now being urged to vote for their favourite which will gain national recognition.

The People’s Choice Award is an annual online vote that gives the public the power to decide which one of the 1,424 parks or green spaces flying the Green Flag Award should be named the site of the year. So, who will you vote for?

Chair of Leisure Services Committee, Councillor Ronnie Harkness said: “It is a great achievement for both parks to have retained their Green Flag status.

“The People’s Choice Award is a tremendous accolade as it is awarded by the votes of those who use the parks regularly. I hope that everyone will show their support for the parks and vote for their favourite.”

To vote for Lurgan Park or Bann Boulevard go to www.greenflagaward.org.uk, select Northern Ireland winners and on the interactive map click on Lurgan Park or Bann Boulevard and then click the ‘vote for this site’ button.

Voting for the People’s Choice Award winner closes at midnight on Sunday, October 14.
