MOOOVE over Hollywood - Craigavon Council has entered a video competition to showcase the borough and scoop a top prize of cow art.

The video, shot by local media company BNL, has already had more than a 1,000 hits on Youtube.

It was filmed in a day showing various parts of the borough and a finale of the Harlem Shake at Craigavon Watersports Centre.

The competition is run by the NI Tourist Board to win one of the famous ‘Cow Parade’ cows.

“Craigavon Borough Council decided to enter to try and win one of the cows as part of the Portadown 400 celebrations as it could visit each event and would be a great attraction,” said a CBC spokesperson.

Local band Microlip adapted and re-recorded the lyrics from their recent single ‘Moving On’.

The video was filmed in one day at various locations across the Borough and was submitted to NITB last week.

NITB will be shortlisting the entries at the beginning of this week.

In 2012 the world’s largest public art exhibition of life-sized cows was herded into Northern Ireland and the NITB moooved in on the act with its very own ni2012 cows.

The art exhibition saw up to 200 fibre glass cows transformed into magnificent sculptures by local artists and community groups and NITB’s herd of cows were designed using the ni2012: our time, our place colours of pink, blue and yellow.

Throughout last year the ni2012 cows visited towns and cities around Northern Ireland for one week at a time.

While the cows travelled they stopped along the way to visit some of Northern Ireland’s most iconic locations and tourist attractions to have their photo taken.

Now one of the cows, Mootiful, is looking for pastures new and the Tourist Board has asked for a new home!

NITB asked people to submit a video that showed ‘What would you do with our moo?’

The winner will take delivery of an iconic piece of public art to keep for their property, the top four contenders will receive a high level of promotion and coverage through Discovernorthernireland.com and Discover Northern Ireland social channels whist voting is ongoing .

Public voting will close on Monday 25 March and the winner announced on Tuesday 26 March.
