More parking for Shankill

FIVE new parking spaces are to be provided at Oakfield Terrace in Shankill.

It’s hoped the new spaces will alleviate some of the traffic problems that currently plague the area.

SDLP councillor Joe Nelson welcomed the move, saying it was long overdue.

“Residents, along with the SDLP, have been campaigning for this since 2009,” he said.

“We have liaised with DRD, NIHE and local community representatives of the Shankill and Wakehurst Community Action Group.

“After receiving support from the Lurgan Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership, DSD have decided to fund the scheme.

“This has been a long fight for the residents, and will be very much welcomed.”
