New surgery gets set to ‘open wide’

NORTHERN Ireland’s largest purpose built dentists surgery is due to open at 18-14 William Street.

Providing nine surgeries over four floors, this modern facility represents a significant personal investment by a local dental practice in Lurgan.

Magee Dental Care have been serving the community for over fifteen years from their surgery at 52 William Street.

Growth in demand for their services and a foresight to the future of dental care required a brand new building to practice the modern procedures and philosophy.

The project has been in motion for three years with construction commencing in October 2011 and due to open at the end of July.

The building boasts nine surgeries, spread around a central four-storey atrium space, providing a light, airy and relaxing feel which is integral to the modern dental healthcare philosophy.

Clean lines and transparency of design compliment the procedural requirements of modern dental care.

The building has been designed to allow the flexibility required to keep up with the ever-changing dental care regulations and requirements of the future. It currently houses a state of the art sterilisation suite to surgical standards.

Ease of use for patients has been paramount to the project, the new building bounds Wesley Street car park, and floors of the building are served by a lift and have wide waiting areas, making the building both fully wheelchair accessible and pushchair friendly.

Continuing to provide private and cosmetic dentistry, Magee Dental Care intends to ensure the community has sufficient NHS dental care on their doorstep.

The ‘MAIL’ was given a tour of the new premises last week by architect Robert Gilmore, whose enthusiasm for the project was quite simply infectious.

The attention to detail in the building has been incredible both in technical terms as well as in terms of the aesthetics.

As the practice develops its hoped that up to 45 or 50 people will be employed there from dentists, dental nurses and administration staff in a building that is very definitely fit for the 21st century.
