Pensioner feels driven out of home
A 64-YEAR-OLD pensioner has said she feels driven out of her home after burglars ransacked her Lime Grove property.
Thieves made off with a jar of 20 pence pieces and an amount of old money which held sentimental value for the family.
It's thought the thieves broke into the home around 8.15pm on Monday while the woman was out babysitting her grandchildren.
“I would love to have come across the cowards,” said the pensioner. “They were stupid and they got away with nothing, probably less then 20. “I’m angry because they have taken my home away from me - it doesn't feel right anymore.” The woman said she thought the thieves had entered the home through the back alleyway. “There was a black BMW Five Series that was acting suspiciously in the area on Sunday and people said they saw it again leaving the area around the time of the theft.
“They only got change and what’s the use in that. “My husband collected old money, there was no value in it whatsoever, but it meant something to me and my family.”
According to the family there has been a spate of burglaries in the area against pensioners. “They are targeting pensioners, thinking they are easy targets,” said the woman’s daughter.
"I want it stopped," added her mother.
Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone who may have information on the movements of a dark coloured BMW seen in the area some time previously.
