THE man shot as he drove to his work along the M1 motorway close to Lurgan was David Black, an employee of the Northern Ireland Prison Service.

Mr Black (52), who was a father of two from the Cookstown area, was travelling to work at Maghaberry Prison when the shooting happened at around 7.30am on Thursday morning.

It’s understood a Toyota Camry with Dublin registration plates drove up beside Mr Black’s Audi A4 and fired a number of shots. Mr Black’s car veered into a ditch where he died of his wounds sustained in the attack.

Police are investigating a link between the murder and a burnt-out car found in Inglewood in Lurgan.
