Suicide suspected in railway death

A 52-year-old Lurgan man has died after he was struck by a train on Saturday.

He was Trevor Hobson, an ex-RUC officer from Donard Gardens who had recently worked as a security guard at Tesco.

Suicide is suspected after the 52-year-old died in an incident on the railway line between Portadown and Scarva. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

In 2009, the ex-RUC man was badly beaten at Hoy’s Meadow in the Edenderry area and subsequently admitted to the intensive care unit of Craigavon Area Hospital.

The funeral arrangements for Mr Hobson were private.
