Time to Talk with Kerrie Patterson

HAVING travelled the world, Kerrie Patterson now has a very good reason to stay at home.

Kerrie, who is Lurgan choir Cantabile's musical director, recently gave birth to her first child, Emmet, and is loving every minute with her baby boy.

Kerrie (34) and her husband Gavin Doran live in The Grange in Lurgan with their three-month-old son.

The keen travellers have been all over the world including Egypt, Alaska, India, Nepal, the Galapagos Islands, the Amazon and Zimbabwe.

Appropriately they were on their travels at the Great Wall of China when Gavin got down on one knee and popped the question.

Not one to create a fuss Kerrie managed to stay calm on their wedding day even when her wedding dress caught fire - when it was introduced to a candle at the altar.

Her passion for music still burns brightly and as well as teaching music at Fort Hill Integrated College she takes charge of Lurgan choir Cantabile.

This Friday Cantabile take part in a concert in St Paul's at 8pm in aid of PIPS. Musical accompaniment comes from flautist Colette Baine and pianist Colin McGarry.

It's a free concert with donations kindly accepted on behalf of PIPS Upper Bann.

"Any concerts we ever do are for charity," she said.

"Members of the choir are from all walks of life. I love being musical director and everyone works so hard for the best possible results."

Kerrie's husband Gavin is a member of Derrytrasna Pipe Band, who will also be playing on the night.
