Trouble flares

POLICE were attacked with petrol bombs and four cars set alight in Craigavon this afternoon (Thursday).

Two lorries, a van and car were set alight just after 2pm at the Drumbeg roundabout.

A crowd of around 50 school aged children gathered in the immediate vicinity of the fires while older teenagers and adults watched on from a distance.

The incident followed a number of police raids on homes in the area throughout the morning which saw officers come under attack with petrol bombs.

Approaching roads to the roundabout were closed, although many motorists ignored the signs and continued past the scene.

There was no sign of a police presence aside from the helicopter overhead.
