Wife of David Black appeals for justice - video
THE widow of a murdered prison officer has spoken of the “honest and caring” man taken from her by dissident republican terrorists.
David Black was ambushed by his killers on the M1 motorway as he drove to work at Maghaberry prison earlier this month.
In an emotional televised interview, Yvonne Black appealed for anyone with information to come forward, and says she can’t comprehend the mindset of those responsible.
The Macmillan cancer care nurse said: “I stand at people’s beds and try to make every day as good as it can be because I know how precious life is.
“People struggle for every hour and to think that somebody could just take somebody’s life, just like that, it is just beyond my understanding.”
She added: “I just can’t understand how anybody can have so much hatred for somebody.”
The couple’s children, Kyle and Kyra, have also paid tribute to their “amazing” dad.
Recalling how she found strength to read a poem she composed at the funeral, 17-year-old Kyra said: “I was just so proud of him and I just wanted everybody to know how amazing my daddy was.”
