Became aggressive and was handcuffed

He was Niall Byrne, Larkfield Meadows, Craigavon, and he admitted disorderly behaviour and resisting police on June 22 this year.

For each offence he was sentenced to three months in custody, suspended for two years.

He was also in breach of a conditional discharge and for this he was fined £200 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that police were called to a domestic incident at Clanrolla Park in Craigavon.

They spoke to the injured party, the mother of the defendant, and Byrne returned a short time later.

He became aggressive and had to be restrained. He pulled away from police and was handcuffed.

Byrne told police: “This is a f—king joke.”

Mr Gabriel Ingram, representing the defendant, said that one of Byrne’s bail conditions was that he had to live with a family friend and she would say that while on bail he has been a model citizen.

He explained that allegations had been made by the defendant’s mother and Byrne just ‘kicked off’ when he saw police. He would apologise for his actions.

Deputy District Judge Austin Kennedy said Byrne had previous convictions for disorderly behaviour and was building up quite a record for public order offences.

He told the defendant it was time for this to stop or he would end up in custody.
