Posting on his Facebook page he said that he had been inundated with complaints about the issues of weeds on local pavements.

Mr Baxter said: “I took a drive around Waringstown and Donacloney earlier as I have been receiving lots of calls about weeds.

“Some areas are really bad and I’ve been on to the appropriate departments over the last couple of weeks but not much improvement I’m afraid.”

The Lagan River representative added: “I’ll be chasing this up first thing it’s just not acceptable and every summer is becoming like Groundhog Day.

“I shouldn’t have to continually report this.”
