Crashed car into lamp post

A local motorist who crashed her car into a lamp-post was banned from driving for 12 months when she appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court last Friday.

Jenna Robb, Festival Road, Portadown, was also fined £200 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy for excess alcohol in breath on May 1 this year.

It was outlined to the court that police had received a report of an accident at the Aghalee Road, Aghagallon, where a vehicle had crashed into a lamp-post.

The car was across the road blocking traffic in both directions.

A preliminary breath test given by the defendant gave a reading of 91.

Robb said she had lost control of the vehicle and asked the police: “How much am I over?”

An evidential breath test gave a reading of 87.

Mr Gabriel Ingram, representing the defendant, said Robb was very, very sorry about the incident.

She was certified as suitable for the drink driving course which, if she completes it, would reduce her ban by a quarter.
