Items seized during search

Police have seized what they described as '˜a number of items' during a search of premises in the Birchdale Manor area of Lurgan yesterday (Saturday, July 23).

The search was part of an investigation into ‘ongoing criminal activity’ a PSNI spokesperson said.

“No arrests were made, however, a number of items were seized,” the spokesperson added.

DUP MLA Carla Lockhart has welcomed ‘the robust serious crime operation’.

Speaking after her visit to the area, she said, “A number of concerned residents contacted me following the PSNI serious crime unit’s arrival to search a property within the area.

“This is a quiet residential area and there was an element of shock amongst many of the residents. I visited the site to reassure and to liaise with PSNI to ensure minimal disruption.

“I would commend the PSNI on a robust operation and know that they have been able to seize items used in recent crime. I welcome that they remain committed to tackling serious crime and particularly burglaries something we have been plagued with in Upper Bann and particularly the Lurgan area.

“I trust that as the operation continues we will see those involved face the force of the law. I would encourage anyone who has any information to come forward to the PSNI and report it on 101.”
