Pair charged with sex offences against boy

Two Lurgan men have been returned for trial to Craigavon Crown Court charged with historical sex offences against a boy.

Patrick Dermot Doran (70), Ballynamoney Lane, Lurgan, and Peter Doran (49), Rectory Road, Lurgan, appeared today (Wednesday, August 24) at a preliminary enquiry at Craigavon courthouse.

Patrick Dermot Doran was accused that on a date unknown between January 1, 1985, and December 31, 1986 he indecently assaulted a male person.

He also faces another 23 similar allegations.

Doran is further charged that on a date unknown between May 31, 1986, and January 1, 1991, he incited a child to commit an act of gross indecency with him.

Peter Doran is charged that on a date unknown between December 31, 1983, and January 1, 1987, he indecently assaulted a male person.

He also faces one further similar charge.

As well Doran was charged that on a date unknown between December 13, 1983, and January 1, 1987, he committed an act of gross indecency with or towards a child.

He also is accused of another similar offence.

A public prosecutor asked that both men be returned for arraignment to Craigavon Crown Court on September 13.

Both defendants were remanded on their own bail of £500 with the condition that they have no contact directly or indirectly or by any means whatsoever with the alleged injured party.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, also made a condition of bail that both of them should not have contact directly or indirectly with any person under the age of 18.
