Upper Bann MLA Carla Lockhart has expressed sympathies to the family of the man who died in an accident at Little Electrical in the town.

She said, “My sincere sympathies are with the family of the young man. I knew him and his family well and was speaking to him only a few days ago. I pray that God will sustain them trough the difficult weeks and months ahead.

“Following the incident this morning I have attended the scene and spoken to the owners of the company who are a very well respected family business in Lurgan.

“There is absolute devastation at this tragedy. I will be continuing to help all concerned through this difficult time.”

A man in his 30s died in the workplace accident this morning (Thursday, August 11).

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland have been informed.

A spokesperson for the organisation said, “The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) has received reports of a fatal incident at business premises in the Lurgan area and is currently investigating.

“Our sympathies and thoughts are with the bereaved family at this very difficult time. HSENI has no further comment to make at this stage of the investigation.”

A police spokesperson said, “Police attended the scene of the death of a man in his 30s at premises at Queen’s Place in Lurgan on Thursday, August 11. The Health & Safety Executive has been informed. There are no further details at this time.”
