Thirty-two-year-old Steven Cranston, Glenshane Avenue, Lurgan, was also banned from driving for two years and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that at 12.05am police were called to an accident involving one vehicle at Dunkirk Road, Waringstown.

There was damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle and damage to a fence and lamp post. The road surface was wet at the time.

Cranston admitted ownership of the vehicle. He claimed that he was not prepared to execute a right hand turn and this, combined with the road conditions, caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

A solicitor for the defendant said he was fully
insured and the damage was covered.

She added that his unfamiliarity with the road and the adverse weather conditions contributed to what
happened.
