During a disturbance on a Lurgan street a 24-year-old man kicked a young man on the head as he was trying to get off the ground.
John Patrick Duffy, Drumgullion Avenue, Newry, appeared last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.
He admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm on November 1 last year.
The court heard that at 1.30am in William Street during an ongoing disturbance a young man was on his hands and knees, trying to push himself up from the ground.
The defendant ran at him and kicked him with extreme force on the head. The victim fell flat and when he tried to get up he again fell to the ground.
When interviewed Duffy said he had alcohol taken and could not remember the incident.
The injuries to the victim were relatively minor. He had scratches and pain to his neck, shoulder and jaw.
District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said there were a number of assaults on Duffy’s record.
He adjourned the case under July 25 for a pre-sentence report.
