Kevin Anthony Seeley (29) of Thornleigh was also fined £100 for the assault.

The court heard that on July 27 police were called to a disturbance and saw Seeley with no shoes or socks on in his garden.

They spoke to the person who had made the call and the defendant was aggressive towards her.

When they approached Seeley about the allegation made by the woman he became aggressive and punched an officer on the upper left arm.

In the police station he calmed down and apologised.

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said Seeley had a lot of alcohol taken. He added that in sobriety the defendant was a different person.

The defendant and his wife were now reconciled, said Mr Downey.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, told Seeley he had stayed out of trouble for quite a while but had let himself down badly on this occasion.
