Mum permitted '˜no insurance'

A 42-year-old woman who allowed her son to drive her car without having insurance was given a six month disqualification last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Dalia Genzdiloviene, Clendenning Way, Portadown, admitted permitting no insurance on July 6 this year.

A barrister representing the defendant said she already had six points on her licence.

He explained that she had been driving her son to work and knew she had no insurance when he drove this day because she was feeling unwell.

The barrister also added that the son had not told his mother he had been disqualified from driving.

The defendant was fined £200, ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy and given six points.

On the tot up points system she was banned from driving for six months.

At the same court Arturas Genzdiloviene (21), Clendenning Way, Portadown, admitted driving while disqualified on July 6, not having insurance and having a defective tyre on the vehicle.

The case against him was adjourned until October 7 so that a short sentence report could be prepared.
