A NEW pedestrian crossing in Waringstown has been welcomed.

In a joint statement, three members of the DUP, MLA Stephen Moutray, Mayor Cllr Carla Lockhart and Cllr Mark Baxter said they were ‘delighted’.

“Given the growth in population of the village and the fact that the Main street is a very busy, well used route this is a much needed facility to aid people to safely cross the road.

“It has been welcomed by all within the village including the well known crossing patrol man Mr Sam McKittrick. It will undoubtedly aid his job in getting children safely across the road to school and nursery.

“This is a win for the people of Waringstown and people genuinely are delighted with the outcome.

“In addition to this service we would wish to see a similar crossing in the village of Donaghcloney and to that end we will be lobbying for such.”
