Commenting on recent incidents at St Brendan’s Primary School in Moyraverty (see story above) Sinn Féin MLA John O’Dowd warned of the dangers - not just physical but also legal,
He said: “I would encourage parents to be mindful of where children are playing and socialising.”
He called on the entire community to help tackle the issue.
“Climbing on buildings in this way is obviously dangerous to their own safety, and damaging to property which could see them in trouble with police and the law.”
Mr O’Dowd said: “I know that local community organisations have also raised concerns in relation to the issue, and I think we all have a responsibility, elected representatives, community activists, police, schools and parents, to ensure that young people are properly informed as to the risks they are taking; both to themselves physically and in terms of the law.”
