During a period of adjournment a 22-year-old man paid £480 compensation for damage he caused when he kicked a car.

Andrew Webb, The Little Forest, Portadown, admitted criminal damage to a car on April 4 last year at a previous sitting of Craigavon Magistrates Court.

At that court a barrister representing the defendant said client had learning disabilities and the incident happened at a learning disability unit.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, said there was a racist element to the case.

But, she added, the defendant had no previous convictions and she could deal with the matter without a pre-sentence report.

She adjourned the case for Webb to produce £480 for restitution.

At last Wednesday’s court the Judge Kelly was informed that Webb had repaid the £480 for damage to a car he had kicked.

She imposed a conditional discharge for two years.
