Sarah Coulter has been manager at the three main food banks based at Lurgan, Portadown and Drumgor for the past 18 months. Former director at the charity Nexus NI, Sarah got involved with the food bank to put her skills of helping others to good use.
She said: “The aim of the food banks is to restore dignity and hope to people in a crisis, no matter what the person’s situation I will always do my best to help them in anyway.
“I believe it is my calling to help people in my community as a Christian God has placed me in this role and it is a privilege to help others.”
On a daily basis Sarah manages the volunteers who help distribute the food and also looks after the administrative side. In her spare time she also gives talks to women’s groups and youth organisations anything to help tackle the issue of food poverty.
The food banks in Drumgor can be accessed on Monday and Friday afternoons, and Wednesday evenings.
Lurgan is opened on a Wednesday afternoon and Portadown on a Tuesday afternoon and Thursday evening.
