PRESIDENT of Ireland Mary McAleese visited St Anthony’s Centre, Craigavon recently.

Part of her visit was to recognise MADS celebrating 15 years of producing shows to people of the Borough.

MADS members Caitriona Corr and Charlotte McClelland got the chance to perform in front of her and her husband Martin.

Caitriona Corr, MADS longest serving member and who is also completing her final year studying Music at Magee University, belted out the song ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ from the musical ‘Les Miserable’ and the President’s reaction to her performance said it all. Caitriona is also the musical director for MADS! next production ‘The Little Mermaid’ and is also MADS! fully qualified singing teacher.

Charlotte McClelland sang ‘A Part Of This World’ from the musical ‘The Little Mermaid’ which is MADS! first production of the 15th anniversary year. Charlotte will perform the leading role ‘Ariel’. President McAleese commented on Charlotte’s stunning costume and excellent performance. She also wished her best of luck for the production.

Barry McCrory, spokesperson for MADS said: “It was a fantastic day for MADS when the President visited St Anthony’s Centre. The two girls performed exceptionally well and everyone seemed to enjoy the girl’s performance judging by the stand ovation at the end.”
