Pupil Callum is top fundraiser for Action MS

A LURGAN Junior High School pupil was the top individual fundraiser among schools for a Northern Ireland charity.

Callum Black was among 10 junior high pupils, who raised over £100 each for the Action MS Charity, who attended a special luncheon at the Ramada Hotel in Belfast to acknowledge their efforts.

The Lurgan school alone raised over £5,000 thanks to all Year 8 and 9 pupils.

They took part in a sponsored walk around Gosford Forest Park last spring with the money going towards local people with MS.

At the luncheon prizes were presented to all individual pupils and schools who participated.

This was followed by a speech by Anne Walker who herself had multiple sclerosis and started the charity 33 years ago.

Callum Black, who raised £850, was the top individual fundraiser at the event and was absolutely delighted.

Previously Callum had been runner up but motivated by the previous year’s event, he went all out to do even better this year.

He collected the highest individual amount and he hopes next year to exceed this. After receiving the trophy he thanked the charity for their kindness and appreciation.

Next year Lurgan Junior High aims to be the top fundraiser at the event and win the Bronze Boot.
