CRAIGAVON Borough Council is urging local residents to kick start the New Year by being environmentally friendly and recycling their old withered Christmas trees at one of the Council’s Recycling Centres.
When Christmas has passed and the decorations come down, locals can dispose of their tree with its ever shedding needles at either Newline Recycling Centre, Tandragee Road, Lurgan or Fairgreen Recycling Centre, Duke Street, Portadown.
“Recycling old Christmas trees is an excellent way for local residents to put their yuletide waste to good use and help make Craigavon cleaner,” said Chair of the Environmental Services Committee, Councillor Johnny McGibbon
“All the trees will be recycled and chipped to form a compost fertiliser for use across the Borough. Facilities at both amenity sites are also provided for the recycling of paint, paper, metal, cans, electrical equipment, plastic, oil (mineral oils and cooking oils), glass, green waste such as grass and textiles.”
