SDLP hopefuls send in their nominations

SDLP Upper Bann MLA Dolores Kelly has accompanied SDLP candidates to lodge their nomination papers for the upcoming local council elections at Craigavon Civic Centre.

The Upper Bann assemblywoman said: “Our Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon candidates have great experience and I have tremendous confidence in their ability, and their commitment to work hard on the issues affecting people in their day-to-day lives.

“Already during this campaign they have heard first-hand from the doorstep what the concerns of people are, and what people need.

“People are fed up with the lack of delivery by the NI Executive and the two big parties.”

Ms Kelly went on to say: “People know what John Hume meant when he said ‘you can’t eat a flag’. Our candidates, when elected, will concentrate on the issues that impact on people’s lives; whether that is access to health services, affordable childcare or being able to heat their homes and feed their families.

“At a time when one in four of our young people are unemployed, SDLP representatives will work hard to promote the local economy and improve opportunities and life for all.

“We currently have a Council in Craigavon which is elected by just over 50 per cent of the people. If you’re fed up with the nonsense that currently passes for politics and good government, then use your vote and make your
voice heard to help create a more thorough and just society.

“I wish all of the candidates every success in the upcoming election and I have no doubt they will take up the challenges of the present to pursue a better future for all.”
