A Craigavon girl has made a big sacrifice for the benefit of children’s cancer charities.

Rebekah Stewart (10), who goes to Hamiltonsbawn Primary School, got her beautiful auburn locks chopped on Saturday to help make a wig for Little Princess Trust and raise funds for Northern Ireland Children’s Cancer Fund.

A total of £895 has been raised to date with contributions from staff at BT, Sainsbury’s and Number Seven as well as friends and family, who thanked Sainsbury’s for the use of their store for the event on Saturday.

Rebekah’s aunt Lesley-ann Brown, who works in the cancer unit at Craigavon Hospital, made the first snip before handing over the scissors to Kirsty Watson of Kutz 4 Kidz/Hair Fever, based at Mourne Road in Lurgan.
