Portadown businessman Steven Black has muscled in to win the Mr Northern Ireland (over 90kgs) heat of the UK Body Building and Fitness (UKBBF).

It means that Steven, owner of Dynamic Nutrition, Portadown and Elite Health and Fitness, Lisburn, will represent the province at the UKBFF finals in the Royal Conference Hall, Nottingham on October 9, against some of the best athletes from across the UK.

It’s quite an achievement, given that Steven took the NI title, after a five-year absence from the competition scene. He has been focusing on his full-time career as a site manager for Amey, starting a family and the development of his business portfolio.

Steven is no stranger in the world of local bodybuilding. In July 2013, he opened Dynamic Nutrition, a specialist sports supplement store that caters for all athletes from bodybuilders and fitness competitors to team sportspersons, cyclists and marathon runners.

Born and raised in the Portadown area, Steven is conscious to support the community and as such has been a proud sponsor of Craigavon Cowboys, American Football Team, Linda Cassidy, Miss UK and Mark Getty Pro Mr World.

On a personal level, Dynamic Nutrition is also a drop-off point for collections for Jake’s Ladybird Bags, a charity established in memory of Steven’s late nephew Jake Flaherty. Jake’s Ladybird Bags, in associated with Children’s Heartbeat Trust, provides a first aid kit for parents who are required to travel, with their children, to Dublin or mainland UK for emergency life-saving heart treatment.
