A strawberries and cream event at the Mourneview, Grey and Hospital Community Association fun day has raised £510 for the Northern Ireland Children’s Cancer Fund.

Councillor Carla Lockhart, who organised the strawberries and cream event, thanked everyone who had contributed so generously.

She said: “It was just amazing to see the boys and girls coming with their donations for such a worthy cause. Genuinely I am overwhelmed and just want to thank everyone.

“Thank you to the Mourneview, Grey and Hospital Community Association for agreeing to the collection at their annual fun day, which was a fantastic success. Well done to chairperson Jonathan Mercer and team on organising a great fun day for the kids.

“Also a massive thank you to my helpers, Roberta, Mum and sis - and of course young Adam Mercer. Also a big, big, big thank you to High Street Harvest for supplying the strawberries! They were mighty. Johnny Ruddell and Glenda Ruddell, you genuinely picked the best strawberries in the country and everyone was talking about how delicious they were!”
