NVQ level three hairdressing students at Southern Regional College, Lurgan Campus, showcased their talents with a photo shoot at Brownlow House.
The photo shoot was an opportunity to demonstrate their skills while at the same time preparing students for working in the industry.
Hairdressing students worked closely with beauty therapy and HND Photography students to produce an array of evening style and avant garde creations.
The college encourages all students to be more enterprising in their personal development to take part in events like this to ensure they are equipped to give serious thought to starting up their own business.
Elaine Nesbitt, head of school, said: “We decided to try a new approach this year by introducing the photo shoot as opposed to our campus competitions. Feedback from our students is very positive as they were able to focus more on the end product, away from the pressures of the competition floor.
“Staff in the school of hairdressing and beauty therapy support students through continuous assessment using City & Guilds qualifications. The photo shoot is an ideal way for students to build their portfolio of evidence and highlight their developing talent to potential employers.”
Awarding body, City and Guilds, provides the hairdressing section of Southern Regional College with external support and guidance, using online systems.
