CRAIGAVON lakes is the setting of this years annual 10km race and fun run.
The event has been organised by Craigavon Borough Council in partnership with St. Peters Athletic club.
The starting whistle will be blown at 7pm sharp on Wednesday June 5, with all participants taking off from Craigavon Watersports Centre and hopefully finishing there also.
It’s an ideal opportunity to enjoy some beautiful scenery as the route takes in the picturesque Craigavon Lakes and City Park areas.
For those who aren’t tempted by the 10km, there will be a much shorter 5km fun run and a 1km family challenge on the same evening.
The family challenge is open to everyone and can be completed by running or walking.
The chosen charity for the event is the British Heart Foundation Mending Broken Hearts Appeal and sponsorship forms will be available. Craigavon Council are calling on all local people from the borough to get their hearts racing in order to help those suffering from heart related illnesses.
The Councils Sports Development Officer, Wanda Rea commented “The event promises to be a great sporting spectacle which should attract a good field of local athletes along with many visitors to the Borough.
“It is especially pleasing to see a 1km Family Challenge which will help make it a real family occasion.”
Speaking on behalf of St. Peter’s Athletic Club, Dwyer O’Hagan noted “This is an excelllent event which has something for everyone, from the serious athlete to those who simply wish to participate for fun.”
