THE deadline for young people to register for an environmentalist awards programme is fast approaching.
The end of the month is the deadline for registration - which is free - for this year’s ECO-UNESCO’s Young Environmentalist Awards Programme.
The programme recognises and rewards young people who raise awareness and help improve the environment.
After registering young people will have until February 22 to submit their project.
While young people are encouraged to enter their own group, schools, teachers, youth groups, youth leaders or other relevant organisations and individuals are also able to enter. The programme is open to groups of between two and 25 people aged 10 to 18 years old.
“This programme is a fun and exciting way for young people to get involved to help build awareness of environmental issues in their community” said Chairperson of Environmental Services Committee, Councillor Gemma McKenna.
