TANDRAGEE Golf Club’s Chef Martin McParland was awarded the title of ‘All Ireland Junior Duck Chef of the Year’ this week at the International Food Exhibition at the Kings Hall, Belfast.
He beat off stiff competition from 28 other competitors who were all given the task of preparing and cooking from scratch a duck dish of their choice within a 45 minute time period.
Marty’s chosen dish was pan seared Gressingham duck breast and he wowed the judges who included Sean Owens Salon Director of Chefskills and owner of Gardiners Restaurant, Magherafelt, and Peter Griffiths MBE, UK skills moderator and chairman of the judges.
He was awarded first place and with it the gold medal.
It is yet more recognition for Martin and the team at Tandragee Golf Club who have become one of the most popular restaurants in the local area.
Marty’s winning dish will be on the menu this Saturday evening with members and guests welcome to ‘Come Dine with Marty’ and sample the winning plate.
