Tributes have been paid to Mrs Violet Thompson, who passed away peacefully at Lurgan Hospital this morning (Thursday, November 26).
Violet Maureen Thompson (née Stewart) was a familiar face at Glenavon Football Club until failing health prevented her from attending matches.
Glenavon FC said on their website: “Sadly we have to report the passing this morning of Violet Thompson. Popular with both supporters and players alike Violet followed her beloved Glenavon home and away, through good times and bad times, for many years.
“Unfortunately ill-health meant that in recent years she was no longer able to attend matches. How she would have enjoyed Saturday’s victory!
“Condolences are sent to her family circle at home and abroad.”
Violet was the beloved mother of Maureen.
