TWO arson attacks in two days have heightened tensions in the Mourneview estate.
On Tuesday evening a petrol bomb was thrown at a house on the Mourne Road and in the early hours of Thursday morning a car was set alight in Brookhill.
The ‘MAIL’ understands the two incidents may be linked.
The house on the Mourne Road was attacked at around 10pm last Tuesday.
It’s believed that two petrol bombs struck the front of the house causing scorch damage. The house was unoccupied at the time of the attack.
According to a ‘MAIL’ source it is not the first time the house has been targeted.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, shortly before 12.20am, police received a report that a car had been set alight at Brookhill.
It’s understood a Volkswagen Passat had its rear window smashed and a petrol bomb was thrown into the vehicle. No one was hurt during the incident.
Police are appealing for information about both incidents. Anyone who noticed any unusual activity or who can give information which could assist police should contact 0845 600 8000.
